Ten exists as the result of a happy accident. Literally. (It happened on London’s North Circular Road on a wet October evening in 2006.)
The idea for TenPilates was born in the rehab gym where founder Joanne Mathews was recovering from the back and pelvic injuries she sustained in the crash. And it came to fruition in October 2007, when the first Studio opened.
7 years on, and with more than 90 staff in 7 different locations, TenPilates is well on its way to achieving its vision of becoming the Dynamic Pilates destination of choice for discerning Londoners.
With first-hand experience of the challenges and frustrations of trying to remain fit and healthy whilst managing or recovering from injury, Joanne is passionate about the importance of a holistic approach to health and exercise. The launch of TenPhysio in 2009 – and with it, Ten’s uniquely integrated Circle of Care model – has brought this philosophy vividly and effectively to life.
As Managing Director, Joanne is responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day performance of TenPilates and TenPhysio.
As someone who gets great pleasure from making things happen, taking TenPilates from an idea to an established Brand is her proudest achievement to date.
Joanne loves business and people – she is a qualified NLP practitioner – and her ability to combine both her passions makes her role at Ten the most fascinating, challenging and rewarding of her career.
