Beginners Class

Why come

Our Beginners class is ideal if you’re new to Dynamic Pilates – or to any kind of Pilates - haven’t exercised in a while, or are looking to refine and practice your technique at a gentler pace.

A basic level of fitness is helpful, but not essential. However, level of fitness is not the sole reason to choose this class. Much of the TenPilates workout is based on the Reformer bed, and focuses on the use of specific techniques, learning to isolate muscle groups and activate them correctly. This class provides the ideal environment to become familiar with the Reformer and to learn and practice those techniques.

What to wear

You're going to get hot during the class, so you'll need to wear something that's comfortable and will allow you to move freely (most people wear stretch pants or shorts and a t-shirt or sports top). You don't need shoes - you'll train either in socks or bare feet, whichever you prefer. Water and towels are provided.

What to expect

If it’s your first class, you should make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes early.
This is to allow you enough time to complete our registration form and meet the trainer. As this is for your safety, please be aware that if you have not done this before the class starts, you may not be able to train.

During the class, you’ll be introduced to the equipment, techniques and some of the basic exercises that underpin much of the TenPilates programme. The focus is on understanding how the core muscles work, learning to activate them correctly, and beginning to improve your general strength, flexibility and posture.

Whilst this is an introductory class, it’s still a workout; your Trainer will make sure you work hard enough to get those all-important endorphins going.

Results and benefits

Whatever your level of experience or fitness, the class is an ideal introduction to Dynamic Pilates - the faster you become confident with the equipment and techniques, the sooner you’ll start seeing the benefits of your training.

You’ll also start building up your core strength and flexibility, so that when you move up to the intermediate and advanced levels, you’ll find the experience easier and more enjoyable, and the workout more effective.
